St. Matthew
St. Matthew
St. Matthew was born in Palestine and was a tax collector when Jesus called him to be one of his disciples. St. Matthew immediately followed Him and was always loyal to Him as one of the twelve Apostles.
St. Matthew was present at the crucifixion of Jesus and witnessed his resurrection, His Ascension into Heaven and saw Jesus again at Pentecost.
Following the death of Jesus, St. Matthew wrote the first Gospel of the Bible’s New Testament to tell the Jewish people about Jesus, His teachings and His way of life.
St Matthew’s day is 21st September
