St. Mark

St. Mark

St. Mark is believed to have been born in what is now Libya in the first century.  St Mark was the first to write the story of Jesus, in Greek, in St. Mark’s Gospel which became the second Gospel of the Bible’s New Testament.

He travelled with St. Paul and St. Barnabus as a missionary. St. Mark became an important part of St. Paul’s life, and is one of the last people mentioned in St. Paul’s final letters.

He told people in Cyprus about Jesus and then he went to Alexandria, Egypt where he founded an early Christian Church and is believed to have died in 68AD.

St Mark’s Day is 25th April
